We commit ourselves to the education of all people connected to HFH Kent. We agree to acknowledge why HFH is needed. We respect all opinions and recognize there are no DEI experts among us, but we are committed to the process of continuous learning and growth.

We know there will be challenges to overcome. We will strive to see others through a different lens than we have in the past in order to achieve our mission of bringing people together to build homes, communities and hope.

Why We're Here

Health & Wellness

Frequent moves and living in unsafe or unhealthy housing can have detrimental effects on children’s mental and physical health. In a Habitat home, cleaner airflow, lower stress levels, resources to invest in healthcare, and feeling safe and secure all contribute to healthy living.

Financial Stability

Lower-income families often spend a majority of their income on housing, leaving fewer resources to support health and education. An affordable mortgage lets homeowners pay down debt, accumulate savings, and build equity.

Education

Housing instability can affect how children perform in school, and can even put whole classrooms behind. Students who move less often do better in school and their parents can pursue dreams of higher education.

Neighborhood Focus

The neighborhoods where we live help determine our outcomes. Habitat homes contribute to stronger neighborhoods by increasing property values, stabilizing housing, and encouraging investment and civic engagement.

So, what do we do about it?

We build, rehab and repair Homes.
We provide financial and homeownership training to homebuyers.
We contribute to Neighborhood Revitalization.

And how do we get it done?

Our approach is defined by collaboration and community empowerment. We work closely with homebuyers, providing personalized support and guidance every step of the way. By focusing on neighborhoods and actively listening to the needs of residents, we ensure our efforts align with local priorities. Engaging with neighborhood and business associations allows us to amplify our impact and foster meaningful connections within the community. Through strategic partnerships with other organizations, we implement innovative solutions to address complex challenges. Our ability to build more homes stems from the dedication and diversity of our volunteers, who come together to support our mission and create positive change for everyone involved.
