The Journey of Homeownership: Domitira’s Story
When Domitira learned about our Homeownership Program, she knew she wanted to join. Even though she wanted to be a homeowner, she didn’t think it was possible in her immediate future.
She had the drive and work ethic necessary to become a homeowner, so she decided to take a chance on herself and Habitat Kent.
Taking that leap paid off and she was accepted into the program. She worked hard to meet all the program requirements. Domitira took our Homebuyer Classes and completed her volunteer hours, all while maintaining a full-time job and raising her two kids. Even with the hard work in all aspects of her life, she’s grateful. She believes her time in the program, especially the financial education, will help her be a successful homeowner.
At her home dedication, family and friends joined Domitira to celebrate everything she’s accomplished. And just a few days later, she closed on her home, officially making her a homeowner. She was so excited that she left the closing and began moving in that day.
She already has a vision for how she wants to decorate and garden in her backyard and is eager to get started! She’s looking forward to welcoming family, friends and fellow church members into her home to make new memories with them.
As this new chapter of her homeownership journey begins, Domitira is grateful that she and her kids now have a safe space to call home where they can continue to grow.
