Living in a Home Owner Association
Living in an Association comes with responsibilities that continue throughout your time in the home. Paying monthly assessments on time to contribute to the operation and maintenance of the property, preparing for future needs of the Association, and building a vibrant community of connected neighbors making these decisions together. With the help of a professional Association manager and Habitat, owners commit to serving terms on the Board of Directors, volunteering when called, participating in meetings and elections, paying their assessments on time, and building a lasting community.
Homeowner Resources
At Habitat, we believe in teaching skills that are beneficial in many areas of life, not only for homebuyer families, but also for students in our community.
We are proud to collaborate with local high schools, colleges and organizations to provide a hands-on learning environment for students to develop green construction skills. Students work alongside Habitat building professionals, instructors and Habitat families to build a house from start to finish. Since 2004, students in Kent County have built nearly 30 homes in partnership with Habitat!
Through this service-learning experience, students prepare for careers in design, engineering and construction by learning skilled trades, establishing leadership traits and gaining pride as they invest their skills into our community.
We partner with:
- GRPS Innovation Central High School's Academy of Design and Construction
- Crossroads Alternative High School in Kentwood
